When you live on a lake you can see the changing of the seasons more vividly. When the wind comes from over the lake you can see the shift in the wind and you are aware of the change in temperature that may be coming. When you see certain ducks come on the lake then you know winter is really coming - they aren't there yet. The lake is beautiful and our family had many hours of fun swimming and boating. Motor size is limited to 25 hp so you don't have the bother of loud motors like you do on the Fox River. The pontoon boat, canoe and small life boat goes to you with the sale of the house. Build a fire in the backyard firepit and enjoy roasting marshmellows with your friends. If you have teenagers then someone will always get thrown in the lake when you have them over. In the winter we walk out on the lake and talk to the folks who go ice fishing. We've had years of fun at this house. It's perfect for a family of four but two families with 11 kids lived there before we did. Across the street is an large field. Taxes are lower because the lot is in unincorporated McHenry county between McHenry, Johnsburg and McCulloms Lake. Lots of shopping at 31 and McCullom Lake Road and farther north on 31. We tore down most of the house after we bought it and had it rebuilt so you are getting a new home. A double wide sliding glass door and 6 large windows face the deck and the lake. Two trees come up through the deck and shade it. It's not in a flood plain. The water has never come close to coming over the bank in the 13 years that we have been there. It is engineered to drain out the other side of the lake when we have those large rain storms. And it does. You can see the lake rise and fall but it doesn't come near the top of the bank. You feel the stress come off when you look out at the water. According t the deed you own a portion of the lake right out your back door. The lake is spring fed.
We are now looking for a house swap (or sale) so that we can relocate to Wheaton, Illinois (within walking distance of the train.)
