I realized I have used large or huge many times but this house started out as a 1930's house moved onto the land, gutted to bring wiring up to date replumbed and insulated, turning the original house into hallway and bedrooms and 2nd bath then building on the huge LR with master suite and living area and 2 more bedrooms upstairs. Every nail, screw, wire, pipe, board, insulation, drywall and plastering my husband and I with our 7 children built. We know the house intimately and I have diagrams for well, water lines, etc.Built so well it has withstood 2 tornadoes. It was the hangout place for cubscouts and teenagers at which one point we had 4 and everytime one went off to college another child became a teenager. It at one point was a 4 generational house when my daughter& son-in-law lived with us while he was attending WTA&M and my mother lived with us.Thanksgivings just in the kitchen have seated 20 people. This house also has a basement under LR with cement floor and blocked walls. It gives one a safe room to go and also has lots of shelves along the walls for more storage.Ready to become your families safe haven, all it needs is for you to pick out the brick or siding. The property is free and clear , has never had a mortgage on it, was built as could be afforded and has no leins against it.This is in an agricultural and ranch county so with low taxes & you can pretty much do whatever you want, with few neighbors. It is 4 miles from a small town,10 miles the other way from a town that started with the oil boom and Amarillo is 40 miles away, which is the big city for shopping and major medical and airport. Ignore the map is not picking up the correct location and I have tried several physical addresses. We just last year were given a physical 911 address and the sign that was put up has one spelling and the large map at the courthouse had the name penciled in with a different spelling.Get a road atlas and find Amarillo or Fritch and follow HWY 135 to the east toward Borger and it is just after farm to market road 1319 and you can only go south on the road. I also have 5 acres of good flat land 8 miles South of Thoreau, NM off I-40 between Grants and Gallup, NM.A few more miles up the road is a National Forest. This is unimproved land valued around $33,000.
In exchange for House in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah
I do not want a neighborhood where I have to spray the dirt off my roof every 2 weeks or have my mailbox painted a certain shade of gray. I do not want part of a building that I have to pay monthly dues or fees for and share everyone elses bugs although I would consider owning a whole apartment building. I would like a quiet neighborhood and a large lot with at least two bedrooms and two baths, in a warm place like middle or lower Florida on the west side but not necessarily right on the beach but inland a little where and I can drive to the orchard and pick my own citrus, or even have my own fruit trees with a self cleaning, solar heated pool completely screened in with glass doors from the house to the outside area or a place somewhere in the triangle in TX between San Antonio, Houston and south of Dallas on a large lot or piece of land with a stream or natural filling pond but where there are no restrictions. The house itself could be a fixer upper and would be a dream if it were a larger Victoian where I could run a B&B and sell baked goods, etc and teach what I have learned. An old commercial building in town where I could run a business on the street level and live in the upper story(ies) with a garden on the roof could happen. I'm starting a new phase in my life and because we have done with what we had I still could work with many different ideas, but it has to be in an area where the taxes are not more than 1/2 a year's pension!!! It could even be an alternative house such as an underground house or bermed earth house on a piece of land with trees, preferably some fruit trees in SE TX, or around Taos,NM or between Payson and Salt Lake City,Utah. Maybe a cave in the woods!Your place does not have to be of equal value if the difference is made up in cash to allow me to fix the place up.If you like the sound of my place, tell me what you have or can trade around for so everyone is happy!
